How I Ended Up Creating My Beautiful Photo Book

by / Wednesday, 19 March 2014 / Published in Photobooks

A couple of years ago we took our kids on a special family vacation to Germany. We stayed with family and friends as we toured the country, finding treasures and photo-worthy sights in each new city.

I had bought a new camera for this trip. I planned to take lots of pictures to put in a book to help the kids remember all that they saw and did. From medieval castles to war memorials, family, friends, and attractions we don’t have at home, our photos turned out greeting card perfect!

After sorting and labeling digital pictures for what felt like forever, I had the pictures that best captured everyone’s vacation memories. But now what? How was I going to get them off the computer so that we could look at them and share them with others?

I know friends who scrapbook, but that just isn’t for me. So I figured I’d start by getting pictures printed and putting them into an album. Boring but functional, and I could figure out something better when I had the time. (Like that will ever happen!?)

I had too many large picture files to place an online order, so I searched for other options. I found

companies that print all kinds of specialty photo products: calendars, greeting cards, photo books, wall art, canvas prints, posters, t-shirts, mouse pads and mugs. This got me thinking…. maybe I should try making a digital scrapbook.

There are a number of companies who print photo books, but I didn’t want to order from some

company in the States. I wanted a local, or at least a Canadian printer, so I kept looking.

As I searched online for a local company to print my digital photo book, I found Treasure Book Printers.

Because they were close to home, I drove down to meet them. I looked at sample books and chatted with Fred. By the time I left, I knew that I could trust Treasure Book to do a great job printing my photo books.

I was so excited when I got the email to come and pick up my books! And all I can say is WOW! They did an absolutely amazing job printing my books! I’ve actually had people notice and compliment me on the quality of my books. That’s how professional they turned out.

Maybe you’ve got the same problem – you take lots of pictures, but they’re either in Instagram,

Facebook, or saved on your computer for no one to see. I didn’t realize how sad that really is until my daughter had a timeline project to do for school where she needed pictures of herself as a baby, toddler and little girl. She sat beside me as I opened file after file on the computer. It blew me away how much she liked looking at all of our family photos! It wasn’t long before her brother came looking too.

Creating a photo book with Treasure Book is easier than you might realize. Download the free software and try it out. If you run into trouble, call or email Treasure Book and they’re happy to help. If creating a whole book seems like too much, start with some cards or a calendar. Or maybe you’ve just got one really great picture to frame as wall art.

Show your pictures off! You’ll be glad you did.
